Buried Alive------ creature feature

I forever dream within a dream
Of a certain city in the sea
As I walk the valley of unrest
Behind this mask of crimson death

I long for a loss of breath
And a most dire predicament
Murders in the rue morgue
Silence and shadow's what I adore

I can’t explain just how it feels
The thought of my premature burial
Inside this oblong box I lie
With the hopes I’ll be buried alive

The oval portrait upon the wall
Will someday cause this house to fall
The power of words left unsaid
As I join the spirits of the dead

I can't explain just how it feels
The thought of my premature burial
Inside this oblong box I lie
With the hopes I’ll be buried alive

Well, I’m the man who's used up
Washed up
Bricked up

Descent into maelstrom
Bedlam
Redrum

Bet the devil my head
Misled
Bloodshed

Heart under the floorboards
Beats for
Lenore
Nevermore

I can’t explain just how it feels
The thought of my premature burial
Inside this oblong box I lie
With the hopes I’ll be buried alive

Analysis:

This is one of those more obscure songs that I know...... honestly, it's one of the most saddening songs ever. I mean, the line that goes throughout the song "With the hopes I'll be buried alive" I mean, this is something someone that is suicidal want to do. I mean, the line "The thought of my premature burial, Inside this oblong box I lie, With hopes I'll be buried alive". If I didn't know anything about it, I would say that it's completely innocent. But I know that it's not an innocent thing at all. It's all too real and a horror that all of us face that are friends or in relationships with those that are suicidal.

I forever dream within a dream
Of a certain city in the sea
As I walk the valley of unrest
Behind this mask of crimson death

In this verse, it's a vague description of what they envision and the lines: "As I walk the valley of unrest, Behind this mask of crimson death" is basically like the hell they experience and the "crimson death" part is like the death by loss of blood. It, in my mind is a horrible way to pass on and it's something that I personally don't want to experience until it's my time to pass on to the great plains of heaven (or to some, the afterlife in the belief of the Egyptians).

I long for a loss of breath
And a most dire predicament
Murders in the rue morgue
Silence and shadow's what I adore

This verse is basically like a deeper description of what is wanted by those types of people. They rather be in the spirit world wandering among those that are still living to haunt them for the rest of the living's existence until they die. And even when they were living, they were staying in the shadows regardless, writing dark and depressing entries in their journals. In my mind, they hate life to the point where they don't care if they live or die.

I can’t explain just how it feels
The thought of my premature burial
Inside this oblong box I lie
With the hopes I’ll be buried alive

I already kind of described this in the first entry before the verse analysis. Due to this song being playing the melody that it does, it kind of reminds me of the "emo song" and "insanity". Honestly, I hope a very special guy doesn't hear "Insanity" because it might tip him off to successfully kill himself. I have been trying to keep him alive long enough to get him back home. Every time I hear songs like this, I worry....... I worry too much......

The oval portrait upon the wall
Will someday cause this house to fall
The power of words left unsaid
As I join the spirits of the dead

This one reminds me of something that dark magic would do if they had the magic to do it. I mean, some may think that there is such thing as dark magic and such but, it's all within somebody's head and it's all. But there were some weird situations where the unexplainable things that could be classified as "black" or "dark" magic. There is a blurry line between both of them and it's hard to put the correct classification on the scenario.

Well, I’m the man who's used up
Washed up
Bricked up

Descent into maelstrom
Bedlam
Redrum

Bet the devil my head
Misled
Bloodshed

Heart under the floorboards
Beats for
Lenore
Nevermore

These four verses are part of what he feels inside. The first verse is basically the person is unable to go on anymore and just used to their limits like the lyrics suggests in the verse: "Well, I'm the man who's used up" "Washed up" "Bricked up" kind of thing. The second verse, I'm confused on what it's all about because words in the second to the last lines of each verse. So....... what can I say about the last two verses? Nothing that I can think of at the moment. That's right fellas, nothing. Which is odd..... usually I could think of something on the spot either by listening to the song or looking over the lyrics again. Which is odd because, let's face it, I'm on a analysis block at this point in the song.

This song kind of is how I feel sometimes because I feel like I want to die but this song is one of the few songs that make me think otherwise. Love all of you that read my blog on a regular basis. If it wasn't for you all, I wouldn't be able to be confident that I can have these lyrics seen every day. I greatly appreciate

Hell on the heart-- Eric Church

No if, and's, but's or maybe's
So you wanna be her baby
I can read your face like a book
Yeah it looks easy to love her but believe me brother
It's harder than it looks

She's as pretty as a picture
Every bit as funny as she is smart
Got a smile that'll hold you together
And a touch that'll tear you apart
When she's yours she brings the sunshine
When she's gone the world goes dark
Yeah she's heaven on the eyes
But boy she's hell on the heart

Yeah she's good when she's bad
She's cute when she's mad
And she does all the wrong things right
Yeah boy it's a fact when they're made like that
You ain't ever gonna sleep at night

She's as pretty as a picture
Every bit as funny as she is smart
Got a smile that'll hold you together
And a touch that'll tear you apart
When she's yours she brings the sunshine
When she's gone the world goes dark
Yeah she's heaven on the eyes
But boy she's hell on the heart

Once you feel her touch and you've felt that rush
It's gonna mess up your head
But here's the kicker son
Your old ticker's gonna beat you half to death

She's as pretty as a picture
Every bit as funny as she is smart
Got a smile that'll hold you together
And a touch that'll tear you apart
When she's yours she brings the sunshine
When she's gone the world goes dark
Yeah she's heaven on the eyes
But boy she's hell on the heart
Yeah she's hell on the heart

Analysis:

This song is one of those songs that shows how valuable her love is to him. He loves her for more than just her looks and the way she can reel him in. She's loved for her intelligence, wit, humor, and other things. Especially how her smile can build you up and a single loving touch can make you fall apart and weak at the knees. Every woman can do that to that one guy that has fallen for that one girl.

No if, and's, but's or maybe's
So you wanna be her baby
I can read your face like a book
Yeah it looks easy to love her but believe me brother
It's harder than it looks

This is the first verse of the song of course by the looks of the song outline but it's also the intro to the true messages of the song. "Yeah it looks easy to love her but believe me brother, It's harder than it looks", those lines are like: "So, you think you can love her, I want to see if you can see past her faults and love her for who she truly is and nothing more, nothing less." That means: "Love her through her faults and tribulations. She might be one of those girls that had a very bad childhood. Just hear her out. You might be surprised on how much you two actually attract. She appears strong, but she's breaking every moment on the inside and you don't know it yet" So, just dig deeper to know her more. It'll be worth it.

She's as pretty as a picture
Every bit as funny as she is smart
Got a smile that'll hold you together
And a touch that'll tear you apart
When she's yours she brings the sunshine
When she's gone the world goes dark
Yeah she's heaven on the eyes
But boy she's hell on the heart

This one gets into detail on what attributes would make her loved more than anything in the world to him. She's beautiful, funny, smart, etc. From line 5 to the end shows how bad she is needed in his life. the lines: "When she's yours she brings the sunshine" "When she's gone the world goes dark" which is basically like I was saying previously. She's the one that brings eternal happiness to his world/heart and if he doesn't have her, he is nothing. Her looks are angelic but sometimes she can be demonic/hellish on the heart by the way she tugs at your heartstrings. No matter how much you are willing to let her go, you just can't because she's your everything.

Yeah she's good when she's bad
She's cute when she's mad
And she does all the wrong things right
Yeah boy it's a fact when they're made like that
You ain't ever gonna sleep at night

This is basically like one of those contradicting aspects of these songs that are like: "The girl has that naughty string to their personality" and such. And when she's pissed/mad, you can't help but think that she's absolutely adorable cause, let's just face it, some girls are absolutely adorable when they are pissed and it's impossible for the guy to stay mad at them when they want to fight. And afterwards, the girl turns it from a negative to a positive in just a blink of an eye and you'll never be able to rest at night. Cause, let's face it, they're just made like that.

Once you feel her touch and you've felt that rush
It's gonna mess up your head
But here's the kicker son
Your old ticker's gonna beat you half to death

When the guy finds that right girl, the touch they have possesses a rush that nothing else has, not even coffee or sugar. Their touch is their energy recharge. I know how it is because the last guy that I had, it was like that on both ends. I gave him energy and he gave me energy. But back on the note of the girl doing it, it will mess the guys' head up but there was a catch to it as well. Their "ticker" would catch up to them and beat them half to death cause of the addiction.

This is inescapable and if it was, it will eat him alive until he got his addiction back.

Over when it's over--- Eric Church

It's over when it's over
Ain't it, baby, ain't it?
Rips ya like a dagger,
Can't it baby, Can't it
Wish we could do it over
Damn it, baby, Damn it
We had it in the air, we just couldn't land it

It's the first snap of the last straw,
Where regrets outlast the alcohol
It's a cold sweat, in an empty bed,
And dreams are like a knife,
When you're hanging by a thread
Ain't no "Maybe we can make it if we just play the right cards"

Now it's over when it's over
Ain't it, baby, ain't it?
Rips ya like a dagger,
Can't it baby, Can't it
Wish we could do it over
Damn it, baby, Damn it
We had it in the air, but just couldn't land it

It's a white flag,
It's a stop sign,
It's the last long drag, on a Marlboro light
It's a long night, beating up the past
Know when the first lie, is gonna hit you back
This ain't no gone for good drill,
Or no goodbye false alarm, it's over

Yeah it's over,
Yeah it's over.

There ain't no better way,
We could make it work
It's a blank page,
When you're outta words
Yeah it's a flat line,
It's a heart attack
Yeah it's too far gone, to be shocked back
It's a one way, with nowhere to turn
It's a no brakes, baby, crash and burn
Ain't no map gonna ever bring us back
From where we are

It's just over when it's over
Ain't it baby, Ain't it
Rip ya like a dagger,
Can't it baby, Can't it
Wish we could do it over
Damn it, baby, Damn it
We had it in the air, and just couldn't land it

Analysis:

This is one of those "It was good at the beginning but it got all messed up shortly afterwards." I know how it is because every relationship I've ever had it got messed up and I just couldn't take it anymore so, I just tried to harden myself to where nobody could mess me up.

It's over when it's over
Ain't it, baby, ain't it?
Rips ya like a dagger,
Can't it baby, Can't it
Wish we could do it over
Damn it, baby, Damn it
We had it in the air, we just couldn't land it

It's describing a scenario where love can be over like a life can be taken. Like the lines: "Rips ya like a dagger," "Can't it baby, Can't it" referring to what I said in the sentence previously. Then, in the following lines: "Wish we could do it over" "Damn it, baby, Damn it" referring to the aspect that the "death" that could possibly be referring to.

It's the first snap of the last straw,
Where regrets outlast the alcohol
It's a cold sweat, in an empty bed,
And dreams are like a knife,
When you're hanging by a thread
Ain't no "Maybe we can make it if we just play the right cards"

This verse is like one those that has serious truth to it. "And dreams are like a knife, When you're hanging by a thread" which is true because a dream can either sever or save the person. I know the aspect all too well........ and most don't think so, but it's all too true. People do this kind of thing all the time to others to psych them out. Yet, most don't know that it effects them more than they may think.

It's a white flag,
It's a stop sign,
It's the last long drag, on a Marlboro light
It's a long night, beating up the past
Know when the first lie, is gonna hit you back
This ain't no gone for good drill,
Or no goodbye false alarm, it's over

This verse has me at a standstill because, let's just face it, some parts of songs have us in that situation. But, what I can gather, the mental anguish is not worth the pain in the end for some but sometimes it's worth it. Some think that they deserve to be alone without a lover in their lives.....

There ain't no better way,
We could make it work
It's a blank page,
When you're outta words
Yeah it's a flat line,
It's a heart attack
Yeah it's too far gone, to be shocked back
It's a one way, with nowhere to turn
It's a no brakes, baby, crash and burn
Ain't no map gonna ever bring us back
From where we are

This verse is basically like the most cold hearted verse I've ever heard. Personally, I don't like how it's worded but it gets it's point across. It tugs at my heartstrings and sends grieving-like shivers down my spine...... I hate the feeling but it's still there. It's hard to swallow in terms of the truth...... but we have to regardless.

this is not a song........

I know this post was supposed be a song but...... I just wanted to put something that I just found that made me open my eyes and remember something that relates to me...... it goes:

The prettiest smile, Hides the deepest secrets
The prettiest eyes, Shed the most tears
The kindest hearts, Feel the most pain.

This is something that is so true. Like I said, I know this is a song analysis blog but....... I just wanted to share this with the people. I know how this is because I hide the deepest secrets behind a pretty smile. I shed the most tears with these pretty eyes, and I feel the most pain with this kind heart. I know it's (according to some) is a sign of weakness but we all have the willingness to cry. This reminds me of the song "Tonight I wanna cry" by Keith Urban. I hide the secrets that most wouldn't keep, I shed the tears that most don't want to, and I feel the pain that most don't want to accept.... I know I should have kept a barbed wire fence around my heart but..... my walls keep getting knocked down......... a little food for thought.

      Until next time.......

Until next time we meet,

Shi'a'in warsong-- Mercedes Lackey

Maiden, Warrior, Mother, Crone,

Help us keep this land our own

Rover, Guardian, Hunter, Guide,

With us now forever ride!

Gold the dawn sun spreads his wings

Follow where the East-wind sings
Brothers, sisters, side by side,

To defend our
home we ride!

Eyes of Hawks the borders see –

Watchers, guard it carefully

Let no stranger pass it by –

Children of the Hawk, now
fly!

Maiden, Warrior, Mother, Crone
Help us keep this land our own
Rover, Guardian, Hunter, Guide,
With us now forever ride!

Speed of Deer, oh grant to these –

Swift to warn of enemies,

Fleeter far than any foe –

Deer-child, to the border go!

Cunning as the Wolf-pack now,

To no overlord we bow!

Lest some lord our freedom blight,

Brothers of the Wolves we fight!

Maiden, Warrior, Mother, Crone
Help us keep this land our own
Rover, Guardian, Hunter, Guide,
With us now forever ride!

Brave, the great Cat guards his lair,

Teeth to rend and claws to tear

Lead the battle, first to last,

Children of the Cat, hold fast!

Hawk and Cat, and Wolf and Deer,

Keep the Plains now save from fear,

Brothers, sisters, side by side,

To defend our home, we ride!

Maiden, Warrior, Mother, Crone
Help us keep this land our own
Rover, Guardian, Hunter, Guide,
With us now forever ride!

Gold the dawn sun spreads his wings

Follow where the East-wind sings

Brothers, sisters, side by side,

To defend our home we ride!

Eyes of Hawks the borders see –

Watchers, guard it carefully

Let no stranger pass it by –

Children of the Hawk, now fly!

Maiden, Warrior, Mother, Crone
Help us keep this land our own
Rover, Guardian, Hunter, Guide,
With us now forever ride!
With us now forever ride...
With us now forever ride!

Analysis:

This song is unique because it shows terms of one of those "mage-like" kingdoms like in the books by Mercedes Lackey. And it's one of those songs that has that melody like all those songs like this that will draw you in.

Maiden, Warrior, Mother, Crone,

Help us keep this land our own

Rover, Guardian, Hunter, Guide,

With us now forever ride!

This verse is basically describing which group of people does which like the first line corresponding with the second and the third to the fourth. In that time in those kinds of kingdoms, they believed that certain groups of people like people like Kethry mentioned in some of the songs like in the second song like this I've made...... not "battle dawn" but the other one mentioning him. Sometimes people would think that this was real and others, not so much. In my mind, they may have existed but, we have no proof.

Gold the dawn sun spreads his wings

Follow where the East-wind sings
Brothers, sisters, side by side,

To defend our
home we ride!

Eyes of Hawks the borders see –

Watchers, guard it carefully

Let no stranger pass it by –

Children of the Hawk, now
fly!

The first verse was basically saying that from the calls of the voices on the wind coming from the East. It's the reality of those kingdoms and everyone had to accept it. In something like in this song, the "sun god" was the belief of those people. Then it goes to those people with the abilities of certain animals like the Hawk in the second of these two verses. Since hawks are known for their sight, the guards need to have the sight of the hawk like the last two lines: "Let no stranger pass it by-" "Children of the Hawk, now fly!"

Speed of Deer, oh grant to these –

Swift to warn of enemies,

Fleeter far than any foe –

Deer-child, to the border go!

Cunning as the Wolf-pack now,

To no overlord we bow!

Lest some lord our freedom blight,

Brothers of the Wolves we fight!

The first of these two verses shows the swiftness of those that are like the deer to tell their superiors about anybody or anything trying to get into the walls of the city. Those that are as swift as the deer are able to keep hidden while keeping an eye out. There are some people that are like wolf packs and they have their own rules of their own. It's like the Native American tribes that have ruled over North/middle/south America for years before European citizens have taken over. And from what those Europeans did, other rivals could try take over but wolf packs always find ways to keep their fights going.

Brave, the great Cat guards his lair,

Teeth to rend and claws to tear

Lead the battle, first to last,

Children of the Cat, hold fast!

Hawk and Cat, and Wolf and Deer,

Keep the Plains now save from fear,

Brothers, sisters, side by side,

To defend our home, we ride!

The brave cat could be anything really. It could be a lion or a tiger. In the video, there is a tiger in a grassy area laying down (a tiger cub about 3 or so months old). Since wild cats have very sharp teeth and claws (on top of that, a quick temper if someone tries anything, that's a perfect comparison). Then again, the cat doesn't leave the fight unless they REALLY have to so, they are very reliable. It's like the lines: "Lead the battle, first to last" "Children of the Cat, hold fast!" The last verse in the set is basically saying that all 4 animals, the Hawk, Cat, Wolf, and Deer work together to keep the kingdom safe.

Some can actually learn something from this song..... the lesson can vary but there's always a lesson present. :D

Draw the circle---- mercedes lackey

Snow is lying on the meadow
Ravens roosting in the tree
All the world was deep and silent
And whispers dancing on the breeze
Up the stair to Kethry’s workroom
Kero made the dark ascent
Fearing through the mist and magic
Wonder where her courage went

Draw the circle between two worlds
Celestial fire to cleanse the girl
One to watch and one to pray
And two to bare her soul away
The moon is every woman’s friend
To her your goodness condescend
And let this night and vision
See the emblems of our destiny

There’s a bowl upon the table
There’s a fire in the bowl
From the fire a voice is calling
Prophesying new and old
Suit of armor in the corner
Never meant for human head
East a demon dead and glaring
Curses better left unsaid

Draw the circle between two worlds
Celestial fire to cleanse the girl
One to watch and one to pray
And two to bare her soul away
The moon is every woman’s friend
To her your goodness condescend
And let this night and vision
See the emblems of our destiny

Up the stair in Kethry’s workroom
Behind a door shut good and tight
Magic and the mist full mingle
In the silence of the night
If you need a magic potion
Or a sword to split the air
Make your way to Kethry’s workroom
Can you find the hidden stair?

Draw the circle between two worlds
Celestial fire to cleanse the girl
One to watch and one to pray
And two to bare her soul away
The moon is every woman’s friend
To her your goodness condescend
And let this night and vision
See the emblems of our destiny

Draw the circle between two worlds
Celestial fire to cleanse the girl
One to watch and one to pray
And two to bare her soul away
The moon is every woman’s friend
To her your goodness condescend
And let this night and vision
See the emblems of our destiny

Analysis:

What can I say? I guess I can say that it's really a emblem of it's own genre. It's something that would have that "mist and magic in the air" kind of feeling. I mean, the first two lines of the second verse: "Draw the circle between two worlds" and "Celestial fire to cleanse the girl". Not many songs have this feel to it. Time for a deeper look, shall we?

Snow is lying on the meadow
Ravens roosting in the tree
All the world was deep and silent
And whispers dancing on the breeze
Up the stair to Kethry’s workroom
Kero made the dark ascent
Fearing through the mist and magic
Wonder where her courage went

This scenery in the first three lines of this verse is really peaceful and something that I would have been surrounded when I needed a quiet time to myself. Seeing the birds resting themselves shows that it's not right to go out flying at that point in time. Then it switches to a place where courage can be lost in the fog of the magic of the workroom of the greatest sorcerer, Kethry. Honestly, if I was in Kero's shoes, I would be scared too.

Draw the circle between two worlds
Celestial fire to cleanse the girl
One to watch and one to pray
And two to bare her soul away
The moon is every woman’s friend
To her your goodness condescend
And let this night and vision
See the emblems of our destiny

What do I say about the first three lines? The first line is unable to have a description but the celestial fire is like holy water in this situation because, think about it, holy water now days cleanses the soul of sins and in my mind, the fire is basically the same thing. Back then, the moon WAS every woman's friend due to the plain fact that the moon was an unjudging part of their lives. Then they also believed that certain things could actually foreshadow parts of their past like the last two lines: "And let this night and vision" "See the emblems of our destiny"

There’s a bowl upon the table
There’s a fire in the bowl
From the fire a voice is calling
Prophesying new and old
Suit of armor in the corner
Never meant for human head
East a demon dead and glaring
Curses better left unsaid

This verse basically has this "Prophesy" kind of feel to it. It's like the lines mentioning the fire in the first four lines, it shows how mystical this could be and very few people could control that power. The armor in the corner I believe was for decoration because it said "suit of armor in the corner" "Never meant for human head". And the last two lines are basically relating to a horrible demon to the east somewhere casting curses that are not made for human ears.

Up the stair in Kethry’s workroom
Behind a door shut good and tight
Magic and the mist full mingle
In the silence of the night
If you need a magic potion
Or a sword to split the air
Make your way to Kethry’s workroom
Can you find the hidden stair?

In a hidden area of the stairwell, there are the stairs to Kethry's workroom where potions or enchanted weapons, it's only a matter of time until you give up trying to find the hidden stair to his workroom.

This song is one of the most mystical songs that I've ever heard along with the few following songs. I know this selection is liked and desired. Keep on reading peeps. :D
